Commodities we source
Each entry sets out the parameters a supplier will ask you for. Define them up front and the enquiry goes out complete the first time. These are checklists for your enquiry, not stock we are holding.
Ferroalloys
06 commoditiesBulk and noble alloys for steelmaking and foundry. Priced against alloy content, penalised on carbon, phosphorus and sulphur.
-
Silicomanganese
7202Bulk deoxidiser and alloying addition for carbon and low-alloy steel. Traded against manganese and silicon content with ceilings on carbon, phosphorus and sulphur.
-
Ferrosilicon
7202Deoxidiser and silicon source for steel and cast iron, traded at 65%, 72% and 75% silicon. Not in CBAM scope, unlike the manganese and chrome alloys on the next page.
-
Ferromanganese
7202High-, medium- and low-carbon grades for steelmaking. The carbon class is set by the steel being made, not by what is cheapest that week.
-
Ferrochrome

7202Molybdenum units for high-strength and tool steels, quoted per kilogram of contained Mo. At this value per tonne, packing integrity is a commercial term, not a detail.
Non-ferrous & scrap
07 commoditiesRefined metal and recovered material. On cathode and ingot the registered brand is half the price; on scrap, the grade code is the contract.
-
Copper cathode
7403Refined copper, normally traded as LME Grade A against an exchange price plus a delivered premium.
-
Aluminium ingot
7601Primary aluminium in remelt form. A7 and A7E are the common export designations alongside P1020.
-
Zinc ingot
7901Refined zinc for galvanising and alloying, normally special high grade.
-
Lead ingot
7801Refined and remelted lead. The antimony and bismuth ceilings are what separate battery metal from shielding metal.
-
Copper scrap
7404Recovered copper traded to ISRI designations. The grade language must be exact — the designation defines the deal.
-
Aluminium scrap
7602Recovered aluminium traded to ISRI designations for remelt and secondary alloy production.
-
Ferrous scrap
7204Steel scrap for melting, traded to ISRI designations. HMS 1&2 in a stated ratio is the common export grade.
Ores & industrial minerals
10 commoditiesRun-of-mine and beneficiated material, priced on a dry basis per unit of contained metal. Penalty elements decide what the cargo is actually worth.
-
Manganese ore
2602Feed for ferroalloy smelting and battery-grade processing. Priced per dry metric tonne unit of contained manganese.
-
Iron ore
2601Fines, lump and concentrate for blast furnace and direct reduction feed. Traded against index with grade adjustments.
-
Chrome ore
2610Chromite for ferrochrome smelting, refractory and foundry use. The chromium-to-iron ratio drives the application.
-

2606Aluminium ore for alumina refining, cement and refractory use. Metallurgical and refractory grades trade differently.
-
Barite
2511Barium sulphate for drilling fluid weighting and industrial filler. Drilling grade trades on specific gravity.
-
Gypsum
2520Calcium sulphate. Cement mills buy on purity and chloride; plasterboard and agricultural buyers work to limits that have little in common with either.
-
Limestone
2521Calcium carbonate for steel fluxing, cement, glass and agriculture. End use dictates the acceptable impurity envelope.
-
Silica sand & quartz
2505 (sands) · 2506 (quartz)Silicon dioxide for glassmaking, foundry, ferrosilicon feed and filtration. Iron content is usually the limiting specification.
-
Rock phosphate
2510Phosphate rock for fertiliser manufacture and direct application. Traded on contained phosphorus pentoxide.
-
Manganese dioxide
2820 (CMD/EMD) · 2602 (natural)Natural, chemical and electrolytic grades. EMD for batteries and NMD for ceramics are separate markets at separate prices — tell us which one you are in.
Fertilisers
06 commoditiesNitrogen, phosphate and compound products. Sold on nutrient units and rejected on caking, so how it arrives matters as much as how it assays.
-
Urea
3102Nitrogen fertiliser at 46% N, supplied prilled or granular. Also traded as technical grade for industrial and diesel exhaust fluid use.
-
DAP (diammonium phosphate)
3105Compound phosphate fertiliser supplying both nitrogen and phosphorus. Standard grade is 18-46-0.
-
MAP (monoammonium phosphate)
3105Phosphate fertiliser with lower nitrogen than DAP. Common grades are 11-52-0 granular and 12-61-0 water-soluble.
-
NPK compound fertiliser
3105Blended or complex fertilisers to a specified nutrient ratio, formulated to crop and soil requirement.
-
Ammonium sulphate
3102Nitrogen and sulphur fertiliser, traded as caprolactam, steel or synthetic grade with different crystal habits.
-
Potash (MOP)
3104Muriate of potash for broad-acre agriculture, in standard, granular and soluble grades.
Industrial chemicals
05 commoditiesBase chemicals in bulk and packed form. What your terminal can discharge usually settles the form before price enters the conversation.
-
Sulphur
2503Recovered elemental sulphur for sulphuric acid and fertiliser manufacture. Granular, prilled and crushed lump all trade actively.
-
Caustic soda
2815Sodium hydroxide in flake, pearl and liquid form. Form and concentration are a freight decision as much as a chemistry one — 50% liquid is half water.
-
Sulphuric acid
2807Bulk mineral acid for fertiliser and leaching duty. Technical, battery and reagent grades are not substitutable, so state which one you are buying.
-
Soda ash
2836Sodium carbonate for glass, detergents and chemicals, supplied dense or light depending on the process.
-
Titanium dioxide
3206White pigment for coatings, plastics and paper. Rutile where it will see weather, anatase where it will not — and the surface treatment matters as much as the crystal form.
Energy & carbon
07 commoditiesRefined products, solid fuels and carbon. We quote only against refinery or terminal supply we can inspect at load.
-
Diesel EN590
2710Automotive gasoil to EN 590. The standard is 10 mg/kg sulphur — higher-sulphur export gasoil is a different product and we price it as one.
-
Jet A-1
2710Aviation turbine fuel to DEF STAN 91-091 and ASTM D1655.
-
Fuel oil
2710Residual fuel for marine and industrial use, including low-sulphur grades for IMO 2020 compliance.
-
LPG
2711Propane, butane and mixes. The ratio is set by the destination climate and the receiving installation, not by preference.
-
Petroleum coke
2713Green and calcined petcoke for cement, power and anode manufacture. Sulphur content governs where it can be burned.
-
Thermal coal
2701Steam coal for power generation and industrial boilers, traded on calorific value with ash and sulphur penalties.

Polymers
04 commoditiesPrime and off-grade resin. Send the grade sheet your line runs on, not the polymer name.
-
HDPE
3901High-density polyethylene resin. The process grade must match the converter line — film, blow moulding, injection or pipe.
-
LDPE & LLDPE
3901Low-density and linear low-density polyethylene. LLDPE comonomer type changes how the film runs, so name the grade your line is set for.
-
Polypropylene
3902Homopolymer, random and impact copolymer resin for fibre, film, moulding and pipe.
-
PVC resin
3904Suspension and emulsion polyvinyl chloride resin, specified by K value.
Agriculture & food
13 commoditiesGrains, pulses, oils, sugar and seeds. Crop year and the contract form usually matter more than the origin on the label.

Cane sugar
1701Refined and raw cane sugar. The ICUMSA colour value defines the grade — 45 for refined white, higher values for mill white and raw.
-
Chickpeas
0713.20Kabuli and desi chickpeas. Calibre in millimetres is the primary commercial variable and drives the price step.
-
Lentils
0713.40Red, green and speciality lentils, whole and split. Grading systems differ by origin, so give us your tolerances rather than a grade name.
-
Yellow & green peas
0713.10Field peas, whole and split. Food and feed grades differ on bleached and defective tolerances rather than on the pea itself.
-
Rice
1006Long grain white, parboiled, basmati and broken rice. Broken percentage is the headline grade variable.
-
Wheat
1001Milling and feed wheat. Protein, test weight and falling number determine milling suitability.

1201 (beans) · 2304 (meal)Whole beans and solvent-extracted meal for feed compounding. Protein on a stated basis is the pricing variable.
-
Sunflower oil
1512Crude and refined sunflower oil, bulk and retail packed. Wax content governs whether it clouds in the bottle and whether it needs winterising.
-
Sesame seeds
1207.40Natural and hulled sesame for oil extraction and food use. Purity and oil content drive the price.
-
Barley
1003Feed and malting barley. Malting grades carry germination and protein windows that feed grades do not.
-
Green coffee
0901Unroasted arabica and robusta beans, graded by screen size and defect count.
-
Palm oil
1511Crude and refined palm oil, olein and stearin. The RSPO supply chain model your customer requires often constrains the origin more than the specification does.
Scope
The index is not the boundary
The 58 entries here are the materials we are set up to source, and we add to them as we take on new supply. If what you need is not listed, send the requirement anyway — a material we have not written a page for is not a material we cannot work on.
The same goes for a grade, origin or packing you do not see under a commodity that is listed. State it in the requirement and we will work to it.
